ISSS 2016 Realizing Sustainable Futures

To realize sustainability in our future we have to educate for sustainability and remove the blocks to learning about coupled, integral, and whole systems. There are inspiring stories of “out of the box” solutions transcending the boundaries of known problems to unimagined futures. But present institutional boundaries restrict progress toward new modes of thinking. We thus propose a new transformational learning initiative for guided, student-driven inquiry into new modes of science & technology, policy & decision making, ethics & values, education & entrepreneurship, business & management … towards sustainable futures and ecological civilization.
